My name is Hongmei Gao, I am a permanent resident of the United States. I graduated from Niigata Design College, Japan’s International fine art course. I now work as a home care attendant.

My 74 year old mother Yulan Hu, is a Falun Gong practitioner. She has been arrested and detained 4 times in mainland China because of her beliefs in truthfulness, compassion and tolerance. On May 16,2020 she told some neighbors in her residential community about the truth of Falun Dafa, hoping that they could be blessed during this pandemic and not be infected. 

Instead, she ended up being arrested by the local police. It has been 2 months now since she was detained but none of my family members have been allowed to visit her. We do not even know if she is still alive or not.

I am very worried about her because of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is extremely brutal. 

I just received word yesterday that Chuanying district court fined my family another ¥5000. We were also fined ¥5000 in 2008, so the total fine has added up to ¥10000 thus far. What’s more, her pension was canceled. My family asked me to pay the fines, and I just feel like weeping but have no tears left. 

My mother has not done anything wrong by practicing Falun Dafa and being a good person. Yet the Chinese government not only detain her, but also persecutes our whole family financially.

Ever since my mother Yulan Hu started practicing Falun Dafa in 1995, all of her illnesses disappeared, as well as all the depression and unhappiness brought about by the difficulties of her early life. 

Practicing Falun Gong has boosted her confidence in the future and she became known as a kind person among her neighbors. At her job, she put forth her best efforts to carry out every task assigned to her, regardless of how dirty or exhausting the assignments were. 

Thus, she was rated as an advanced model worker many times. Everyone would give her a thumbs-up. What my mother used to say all the time was “I am still too far away from Mr. Li’s requirements of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance”.

 However, ever since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, the CCP has arrested my mother 4 times just because she told neighbors the truth that “Falun Dafa is good”. My mother has suffered from long-term persecution, both mentally and physically. The methods of persecution include many times of detention, sentence to forced slave labor as well as her home ransacked and more.

On May18, 2020, the local police arrested my mother because she was distributing Falun Gong truth clarification materials. She was detained for over 2 months and has been under monitoring ever since. Due to this incident, my father has been living in great anxiety and depression. 

During my mother’s detention, he was hospitalized once after she fainted outside. Being worried about my mother all the time had aggravated my fathers illness, he  unfortunately passed away last November.

As a Falun Gong practitioner, I can not go back to China and thus, was unable to attend his funeral. My father’s last word was “my girl, dad misses you”. I still have not recovered from the grief of losing my father.

Currently, my mother Yulan Hu was arrested by the procuratorate of Changyi and is being detained in Jilin City detention house. None of my family has seen her or heard from her since her arrest. No one knows how she’s doing now. 

As my mother is already 74 years old, I am very worried about her. I do not want to loose her as well. I earnestly invite you to please reach out a helping hand to rescue my mother Yulan Hu. Thank you in advance. 

My whole family strongly requests the CCP to release my mother Yulan Hu immediately and unconditionally. My mother is just following the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and being a good person. That is by no means a crime. 

The CCP is committing a heinous crime of persecuting Falun Gong, because it’s against our most basic principles of morality and universal standards set by the Creator.

At the same time of calling for my mother’s freedom, I hope you can also urge the CCP to release all Falun Gong practitioners that have been and are being arrested as to put an immediate stop to the evil persecution against innocent Falun Gong practitioners!
